TOM FORD SEDUCED ME WITH A SINGLE MAN

Poster for A Single ManYesterday, I went to a screening of the new Tom Ford movie "A Single Man."  WOW!

"A Single Man" is a romantic tale of love interrupted, the isolation that is an inherent part of the human condition, and ultimately the importance of the seemingly smaller moments in life.

As the movie started, I suddenly felt like Alice falling through the rabbit hole.  I was instantly and visually glued to the screen as it was beyond editorially beautiful.

Each character seduces you into their lives and their wonderment keeps the audience intrigued.

The movie was set in Los Angeles in 1962, at the height of the Cuban crisis.  The costume design gave me the feeling as if I was skipping through the pages of Numero or W Magazine.  Leave it to the remarkable Arianne Phillips to illustrate life through her artistry.

Throughout the movie Colin Firth's character dwells on his past and is having trouble coming to terms with the importance of living in the presence. His journey was composed and scored by Abel Korzeniowski, who I immediately googled when I got home.  The music was magnificent and powerful, you feel every heartbeat, every crackle in the fire place and even in the silence you are tuned in with suspense.

The cast included Colin Firth, Julianne Moore, Matthew Goode and Nicholas Hoult.  The movie also included Chris Weitz who helped produce "A Single Man" along with Tom Ford.  Most of you may know Chris Weitz from his much anticipated movie New Moon that he wrote and directed.
