FASHION ICONS GIVE HEAD ON TOP OF MOUNT RUSHMORE

“Mt. Blushmore,” by Item Idem.Check out this fashion exhibition “Dysfashional,” which opened this week at the Passage du Désir in Paris.  The show’s curators, Luca Marchetti and Emanuele Quinz, have tapped designers like Raf Simons, Hussein Chalayan and Gaspard Yurkievich to contribute, the pair has chosen not to exhibit clothing, preferring instead to focus on the ideas and spectacle that surround fashion.

Here is just one of the many art pieces by Item Idem that is featured in the exhibit.

“Mt. Blushmore,” is an L.E.D. installation featuring Karl Lagerfeld, Donatella Versace, Anna Wintour and John Galliano in place of Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln. Idem says that the work suggested itself on a recent trip to the Optics Valley in Wuhan, China. “Pop culture and tourist gimmickry are two of my personal obsessions and have pushed me to explore new mediums like laser crystal engraving,” he says. “’Mt. Blushmore’ is conceived as a three-dimensional postcard, a souvenir blown up to monumental size.” The better to showcase monumental egos.

NeverWood High would totally have this art installation hanging in the History classrooms!

Dysfashional” runs through Nov. 29. It will then travel to the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin next year.

TEENS BREAK INTO TEEN VOGUE: CAUGHT ON VIDEO

Teen Vogue's Editor-In-Chief, Amy Astley inspires teens "how to" break into the fashion world.  This is such a great idea, because you don't learn these valuable lessons from your normal career day at school.  I definitely learned a lot throughout the years I spent at Teen Vogue and now using those life lessons here at NeverWood High.

Go to http://tinyurl.com/luyfc6 to pre-order your copy of the Teen Vogue Handbook: An Insiders Guide to Careers in Fashion today. The book hits stores October 5th!

Can't wait to pick up my copy!

SCOUT WILLIS CELEBRATES HER 18TH BDAY

Scout LaRue Willis 18th Birthday

What can I say, but that...

I love the night life, I got to boogie. I'm always having the most amazing time at whatever event I'm attending. But, its rare that I am impressed on the level of party planning and creativity that goes into ones soiree.

It's important to learn and appreciate the glamorous generations passed. Truman Capote’s legendary Black & White Ball. From the magical nights hosted by Steve Rubell at the infamous Studio 54, to Amy Sacco's ravishing rendition of The Beverly Hills Hotel at the bustling Bungalow 8.  Anna Wintour's most decadent Met Ball and lets not forget about Vanity Fair Magazine's ultra exclusive party at the Hotel Du Cap during the Cannes Film Festival.

Leave it to the sensational Scout LaRue Willis to capture the essence of Gatsby’s Roaring Twenties at her 18th Birthday party in the heart of downtown, Los Angeles.

It truly was a sight taken from Baz Lurhmann's visionary mind. Where else would Mario Testino be, other than snapping the tantalizing party guest that were in attendance (and in costume). The birthday girl had everyone gasping as she waltzed down a staircase in her second outfit change of the night. I definitely went from the Great Gatsby to the Great Gaspy.

NeverWood High would like to wish the ever so radiant Scout LaRue Willis a very special birthday!

You really RAZZLE DAZZLED'em...

ANNA WINTOUR'S SEPTEMBER ISSUE EXPOSED

The Septemer Issue poster

Anna Wintour, the legendary editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine for twenty years, is the most powerful and polarizing figure in fashion. Hidden behind her trademark bob and sunglasses, she has never allowed anyone to scrutinize the inner workings of her magazine.

Until NOW.

Filmmaker R.J. Cutler's new film The September Issue does for fashion what he did for politics in The War Room, taking the view inside a world they only think they know.
