FASHION ICONS GIVE HEAD ON TOP OF MOUNT RUSHMORE

“Mt. Blushmore,” by Item Idem.Check out this fashion exhibition “Dysfashional,” which opened this week at the Passage du Désir in Paris.  The show’s curators, Luca Marchetti and Emanuele Quinz, have tapped designers like Raf Simons, Hussein Chalayan and Gaspard Yurkievich to contribute, the pair has chosen not to exhibit clothing, preferring instead to focus on the ideas and spectacle that surround fashion.

Here is just one of the many art pieces by Item Idem that is featured in the exhibit.

“Mt. Blushmore,” is an L.E.D. installation featuring Karl Lagerfeld, Donatella Versace, Anna Wintour and John Galliano in place of Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Roosevelt and Lincoln. Idem says that the work suggested itself on a recent trip to the Optics Valley in Wuhan, China. “Pop culture and tourist gimmickry are two of my personal obsessions and have pushed me to explore new mediums like laser crystal engraving,” he says. “’Mt. Blushmore’ is conceived as a three-dimensional postcard, a souvenir blown up to monumental size.” The better to showcase monumental egos.

NeverWood High would totally have this art installation hanging in the History classrooms!

Dysfashional” runs through Nov. 29. It will then travel to the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin next year.

LET NEVERWOOD HIGH BE YOUR SUPERNOVA

Dolphin Excursion in Hawaii (can you spot Kim Kardashian & Michael Copon)

Have you ever heard a song that gives you such an adrenaline rush and makes you feel like your on a roller coaster, a speedboat in the ocean or jumping out of a plane on a sky dive.

Well...Supernova by Mr. Hudson does it for me!

I went for a drive early this morning to Santa Monica and down the PCH and had this song on repeat.  I'm one of those people that will kill a song because I love it so much and listen to it non stop.

The words are amazing and the video is pretty cool too.  I feel like this song is about so many people (maybe me) I know.  Supernova offers sensuality and gives off a certain type of excitement to chase the one you love or go on a quest to fulfill a dream.  At the same time its also about not always reaching for what is out of your reach and grabbing what's right in front of you.  Living in the moment and holding on to the good people around you.

Let's commit to doing something new this week, find your passion -whether you have one or not.  If you don't do what you love in life, then your not really doing anything at all.

What song really gets you going?   We at NeverWood High would love to know and help you find your passion and give you a chance for you to get it right.

You only live once people so lets GET IT RIGHT!

PARIS BRIGHTENS UP WHILE BEING PAINTED ON

Paris, France in Black &

I stumbled up this video made by a French student last night.  Here's a question for you:

If you were to look at your own life and erase all the colors in it, making it just black and white. Would you repaint the world to your liking or just keep it the way it is?

I'm currently working (coloring) on a project for the students of NeverWood High and just got some great inspiration from this vid. Check out this well shot and very creative short film below.

It's absolutely beautiful.

In a black & white Paris, little creatures with paintbrush decide to brighten up the city...

HAPPY BASTILLE DAY FROM NEVERWOOD HIGH

Eiffel Tower on Bastille DayBastille Day
is the French national holiday, celebrated on 14 July each year. In France, it is called Fête Nationale ("National Celebration") in official parlance, or more commonly le quatorze juillet ("14 July"). It commemorates the 1790 Fête de la Fédération , held on the first anniversary of the storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789; the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille fortress-prison was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern nation, and of the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic, during the French Revolution.

Festivities are held on the morning of 14 July, on the Champs-Élysées avenue in Paris in front of the President of the Republic.

To all my Frenchies, have the best day ever! Here is a tribute to some of my celebrations while in the South of France.

In 2007 I went to the Cannes Film Festival with friend Mischa Barton. We stayed for the entire two weeks and had the time of our lives.  Check out the video below.
