A school bus loaded with swimmers from a high school swim team went off the road and plunged into a small pond Monday morning.
18 members of the Rockwall-Heath High School team were returning from an aquatics center when it went into the pond.
The students and their coach were able to walk off the bus through the emergency door in the back. Five students were taken to area hospitals as a precaution. The bus driver had to be rushed to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas.
Investigators hope to question the bus driver about what went wrong on Farm-to-Market Road 549 in Rockwall county, about 20 miles northeast of Dallas.
Many parents who heard about the accident rushed to the crash scene to check on their children. Most of the students who were on the bus made it to campus a short time later.
Champlain Valley Union HighNeverWood High would like to meet the student who wrote this email:
My name is -----, and I am 17 years old, and I attend Champlain Valley Union High School in Hinesburg, VT. I live twenty minutes away in Williston VT, and find myself constantly bored with all the "regular" and "normal" classes that are offered. I am so much more than sitting down to fill out pages of math, or discuss a book that the teachers think are best for me. I am a vision, a dream, a new idea. I live life by my own standards and hopes, not those of my family or higher authority. I want to be so much more than I am being told I can be. I don't just want to be a writer and a photographer, I want to be an inspiration to those who feel like they can't do it, to those who are constantly told they don't have what it takes. I want to spread hope, beauty, love, and art to every single corner of the earth, and I believe I can. With my writing and my photography, I know I can part the seas and moves mountains. I can paint a perfect picture of just how amazing this world, this life is, amongst all the pain, anguish, and judgment. Nothing is too big, or too unattainable for my mind and my art and I would be honored to share that with everyone. That is what I can bring to the table, that is what I have to offer. Beauty, and hope through my artist skills in writing and photography. I may not be the best there is out there, but it's not about who has the most amazing skills, or who can turn the most heads with their work. It's about who has the drive and the passion to light a match under their work, and let it burn the whole world down.
Now, this is what were talking about.
NWH is here to inspire and be inspired by it's students. Thank you for you passion and drive and we would be honored to have you contribute some of your artistic skills to our school.
With that said (in Brittany accent), it's Monday ya'll and let's git-tah work!!!
